Summer is here, and the City of Evanston has set two summer dates set for residents to show off their photography skills: July 4 and Aug. 10. The City’s seasonal photo contest, “Day in the Life of Evanston” includes July 4 as a second date to mark the 150th anniversary of the founding of Evanston.

Professional and amateur photographers alike are invited to help capture the beauty of Evanston across all spectrums on a single day. The City launched the Day in the Life of Evanston program in the fall of 2011 in hopes of capturing Evanston through the seasons by holding “photo days” in each season.

Photographers of all ages and expertise can share their vision of Evanston as seen through the lens of their camera. Be it a trip to the farmers’ market or the beach, the City wants to see interpretations of what it means to live in Evanston.

Photos can be submitted the day after each contest at www.cityofevanston.org/dayinthelife, but must be submitted no later than Aug. 16. All submitted photos will be posted on the City of Evanston’s website, and 32 photos will be selected to be part of the Day in the Life of Evanston, Summer 2013 Edition printed photo book, which will be available for purchase.

More information is available from Eric Palmer at epalmer@cityodevanston.org.

The July 4 rain date will be July 13 and the Aug. 10 rain date will be Aug. 17.
