The City of Evanston’s annual Food Truck Fest and Starlight Concert comes to Brummel Park on Thursday, July 25 with delectable food truck delights and the music of The Congregation – classic soul meets rock and roll in this dynamic eight-piece collective from Chicago.
Come early and come hungry to experience the latest dining trend: Food Trucks!Starting at 5:30 p.m., Evanston’s first and only food truck, Hummingbird Kitchen, will be joined by The Tamale Spaceship, Sweet Ride, Taquero Fusion, 5411: Gourmet Empanadas, and new for 2013: Babycakes Gourmet and Curried.
“I am thrilled to be celebrating the third year of the Food Truck Festival at the Starlight Concert at Brummel Park. We have added new food trucks this year and it is always a celebration of great food and music,” said Evanston Alderman Ann Rainey (3rd Ward).
The Congregation features Gina Bloom, a singer whose raw and powerful vocals are underscored by Charlie Wayne’s dynamic guitar riffs, the band’s garage rock rhythms and the lively call and response of a three-piece horn section. When it comes to the songwriting, you won’t find any sugarcoated love songs here–you’ll get a little bit of longing and a whole lot of wronging. The concert will take place from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. on July 25. Free Starlight Concerts are presented every summer by the City of Evanston. The 2013 series features 17 outdoor concerts at six park locations throughout the city. All performances are free to the public, and will take place from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m. In the event of inclement weather, rain site information will be available after 4:30 p.m. on the show date by calling 847-448-8058, 847-448-8260 or 311. The rain site is Levy Senior Center for Brummel Park concerts. For the complete concert schedule, visit cityofevanston.org/starlight. |
