The St Joan of Arc (SJA) community hosted a neighborhood 5K run on June 8, for the members of the Girls on the Run-Chicago team at SJA, as well as many other local schools. The SJA community came together and sponsored the neighborhood race after many teams were held up for hours in traffic and not able to get into Toyota Park for the official 5K race, which was a culmination of a 12-week program teaching the girls to stand up for themselves and to handle peer pressure. The neighborhood race “was a complete success with other local schools, the NU cross country team, neighbors, and Evanston Running club joining us on our run,” said Jennifer Bellis, coach of the SJA team.
