On Aug. 6 at 6 a.m., Evanston and Chicago police responded to the 1700 block of Howard Street in Evanston on a report of a criminal sexual assault which had just occurred. See link to article below.
The Evanston Police Department issued the following release on Aug. 8 asking for the public’s help in identifying the person suspected of the sexual assault:
“Pursuant to this investigation, the Evanston Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. The suspect is described as a male black, 30 years old, dark complexion, thin build, wearing a baseball cap and black T-shirt. In the video (in the top right corner of the image) the suspect can be seen forcing the victim across the street in between moving traffic and into the gangway of the vacant building at 1717 Howard St. Moments later, the victim reemerges and runs west bound toward the intersection of Howard St. and Dodge Av. (California Av. in Chicago) and the suspect does not reappear.
“Any passing motorist or pedestrian that traveled through the area at 6:00 AM on the morning of Tuesday, August 6th and may have seen something that would help identify the suspect is asked to contact the Evanston Police Department’s Detective Bureau at 847-866-5040. Anonymous tips can also be submitted by text messaging to CRIMES (274637) followed by EPDTIP in the message line and then your tip information. “
