City staff will review analyses of the condition of the Harley Clarke mansion, including work done by James Pritzker’s Taiwani Associates, and present the information at the Sept. 16 Human Services Committee meeting, City Manager Wally Bobkiewicz told the RoundTable. The mansion, 2603 Sheridan Road, is the present site of the Evanston Art Center. Art Center officials have said they plan to relocate within the next few years.
At that meeting, Mr. Bobkiewicz said, the Human Services Committee will “hear from me on proposed outreach to community on future uses of building. It will also be important for Council to set very specific parameters on what could or not could be done at site before we go much further. A major constraint to future property uses is available parking.”
Although several residents have requested that a committee be formed or appointed to investigate and analyze potential uses of the mansion, Mr. Bobkiewicz told the RoundTable, “No committees are contemplated at this time.
