Governor Pat Quinn today, Aug. 15, announced capital investments of almost $2.4 million in the City of Evanston for a bridge at Bridge Street over the North Shore Channel. The bridge will be rehabilitated, and related road work will be performed. The projects is part of Governor Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward.

This project “will improve transportation safety and efficiency in northern Cook County,” Governor Quinn said. “Additionally, [it]will also employ a number of construction workers, which will help the local economy as well.”

The Illinois Department of Transportation will manage both projects.

The project is part of Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which will support more than 439,000 jobs over six years. A press release issued by the Governor’s Office says Illinois Jobs Now! is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
