DaeDaeWorld Weekend is being established this year to honor the memory of Dajae Coleman. Dajae, affectionately called “Dae Dae,” was known in the Evanston community as a model student and athlete. Family and friends were a central part of his life. Tragically, Dajae lost his life to gun violence in September 2012. Deeply impacted by Dajae’s death, the youth in the community were left searching for meaningful ways to commemorate his life. DaeDaeWorld Weekend seeks to unite the community through an annual weekend of events that promote the core values that shaped Dajae’s life: family support, determination, and positive social interactions. The event will not only allow the community to engage in activities that highlight Dajae’s love of family and sports, but will lay the framework for positive reinforcement in the lives of youth.
