The Evanston Police Department, working with the North Regional Major Crime Task Force, announced the arrest of a young man in connection with the shooting death of Cardereon Priester, 21 years old, that occurred on Sept.10 shortly after 11 p.m.in the 1700 block of Leland Avenue, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department.
On Sept. 19, police charged an Evanston resident, 18 years old, with first degree murder in Mr. Priester’s death, said the Commander. In a prepared statement, Commander Parrott said the shooting is believed to be in retaliation for a previous meeting that took place between the alleged shooter and Mr. Priester to exchange drugs and money for a firearm that the victim had. “The exchange went awry between the two, which in turn led to the murder of Priester several weeks later,” said the Commander.
