The annual resource fair for students with special needs, “Transitions for the Future,” will be held 6:30-9 p.m. on Nov. 6. All students with special needs, their parents/guardians and professionals are invited to attend the event at Niles North High School, 9800 N. Lawler St., in Skokie. The resource fair is designed to assist students with special needs in making post-high school transition plans.
The program begins with a panel discussion by the Business and Education for Students in Transition (BEST) Committee. The discussion entitled “Planning for Your Student’s Future” will be 6:30-7:30 p.m. Guests are then invited for the rest of the evening to meet with representatives from organizations listed in the 2013 BEST Resource Directory.
A wide range of information will be presented by participating organizations, such as apprenticeship and government programs, employment and health services, educational and recreational opportunities, legal resources, referral sources, residential options, transportation information, vocational programs and trade schools. A free resource directory will be available at the fair.
