Nan Anderson received the Governor’s Unique Achievement Award at an Oct. 23 ceremony in Springfield. An active volunteer, she was nominated by AgeOptions, where she chairs the Advisory Council.
John K. Holton, director of the Illinois Department on Aging, presented the awards, which annually recognize individuals, groups and programs that have a positive impact on the lives of older adults in Illinois.
Ms. Anderson has been a member of the AgeOptions Advisory Council since 2007 and was elected chairperson in 2012. She also serves on the AgeOptions Advocacy Task Force and is involved in outreach and information regarding AgeOptions public meetings and the work of the Advisory Council.
In Evanston, her volunteer activities include service to the City of Evanston Commission on Aging and the Aging Well Conference and Film Festival. She provides direct client assistance to individuals at locations throughout Evanston and Skokie, specializing in pharmaceutical assistance and other benefits.
