The City of Evanston, in conjunction with the Solid Waste Agency of Northern Cook County (SWANCC), began its annual holiday light recycling program on Dec. 1.

This year’s donations will be recycled through a program supported by the City of Evanston, SWANCC and Elgin Recycling.

Acceptable holiday lights for recycling include: mini-lights (or Italian lights), C7 lights, C9 lights, rope lights, LED lights and extension cords.

Garlands, live greens and wreaths are not acceptable in this free program.

The holiday light recycling program will continue through Jan. 31, 2014.
