Members of the Evanston community have logged more than 150,000 hours of volunteer services this year, Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl announced at the Nov. 18 City Council meeting. The top two volunteer organizations were Northwestern University, whose volunteers contributed 14,000 hours, followed by the Community Animal Rescue Effort (C.A.R.E.), at 12,000 hours.
The Mayor presented an award to the Woman’s Club of Evanston for its 6,500 hours of service there, put the community past its 150,000-hour goal.
The community is celebrating the City’s sesquicentennial. The official 150th birthday will be Dec. 29.
