Updated. On Dec. 7, at approximately 6:20 p.m., Floyd Gibert, 30-years old, was shot in the 2000 block of Darrow Avenue, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. Mr. Gibert resided a few blocks from where he was shot.

Just after the shooting, a traffic crash occurred at Greenbay Road and McCormick Boulevard. Police believe that crash occurred when someone was transporting Mr. Gibert to the hospital,  said Cmdr. Parrott.

A representative of the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office told the RoundTable that Mr. Gibert died as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest and that his death has been ruled a homicide.

Police are investigating the incidents. Cmdr. Parrott said no further information is available at this time.
