The Evanston Police Department wants to make the public aware of an attempt sexual assault that occurred over the weekend on Dec. 8 just after midnight (Saturday). An unidentified male approached a 23-year-old female resident in the 1300 block of Maple Avenue and knocked her to the ground and attempted to undress her.  When she made an attempt to defend herself, she was further battered by the offender.  The victim was subsequently treated for facial injuries at a local hospital.

A description of the offender is Male/Unknown Race/Fair Skin/5’07”-5’08″/Slim Build/Blue Jeans/Dark Coat/Possible Knit Cap 

The offender was seen just prior to the attack walking eastbound on Dempster Street approaching Maple Avenue.

There have been no other incidents of this type that have recently been reported to police. The Evanston Police Department is soliciting any information that may lead to the identification and arrest of this subject by calling 847-866-5000 or utilizing text-a-tip by texting to CRIMES (274637) and typing “EPD Tip” with the anonymous tip information.
