Snow continues to fall over the area. Since this morning an additional 3.8” has fallen giving Evanston 7.8” for the storm thus far.
Tonight additional Lake effect snow is expected which is anticipated to extend into tomorrow afternoon or evening. An additional 4” to 5” may accumulate.
Operationally Public Works has 25 trucks out plowing streets and additional equipment plowing parking lots and sidewalks. We have plowed main routes multiple times and most side streets at least once. We will continue to plow around the clock until the snow ends.
As predicted this is a very long durational snow event that does not occur in the Chicago area that frequently. Public Works has increased its crew size for both today and tonight in anticipation of this.
I anticipate a snow emergency to be declared early tomorrow morning which will give us the opportunity to clean the streets curb to curb.
Additional updates will follow.
