| Snow Parking Restrictions – Voluntary Compliance Requested
Parking restrictions are not in effect for today or tomorrow, January 6 and 7, 2014.
Due to the frigid temperatures, the City has asked for voluntary even/odd compliance for Tuesday (8 a.m. to 6 p.m.) On January 7, 2014, vehicles should be parked on the even-numbered side of the street, if possible. Most streets with parking on one side only now have permanent “ODD date” or “EVEN date” signs. This allows them to be plowed during snow emergencies or when voluntary compliance is requested. Refuse and Recycling Pick-up Operating on One-day DelayDue to extreme temperatures, residential refuse, recycling and special pick-up collections will operate on a one-day delay all week. Monday‘s scheduled collection will occur on Tuesday. Details here. Volunteers Sought for Snow Shoveling AssistanceThe City of Evanston is looking to connect individuals who are willing to help shovel sidewalks and driveways to seniors and the disabled in Evanston. If you have a problem with your water line, follow the tips posted here or call 311 (847-448-4311). Warming Centers Available and Cold Weather TipsRobert Crown Center, 1701 Main St., will be open overnight on Monday evening. People who need transportation to warming shelters should contact 311. Please follow these tips to stay safe. Free Parking ExtendedIn order to have fewer cars on Evanston streets, free parking in the three downtown self-parking garages has been extended until Tuesday evening, January 7, at 11:59 p.m. Any cars in the garage after 11:59 p.m. on January 7 will be charged.
