Evanston native Kori Ade has coached figure skater Jason Brown since he was 5 years old. Last Sunday, the 19-year-old college freshman was named to one of two spots on the Olympic men’s figure-skating team, and she was named, an Olympic coach. The two will travel to the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Feb. 7-23.
While Mr. Brown, of Highland Park, may return to college in Colorado after the games, Ms. Ade may return only for a short time – since another of her skating students, Jordan Moeller, of Oak Lawn, has been named to the Junior World Competition in Bulgaria.
While growing up in Evanston, Ms. Ade skated as Clara in the Robert Crown production of “Nutcracker on Ice.” She graduated from Evanston Township High School in 1991. After graduating from Loyola University of Chicago, she coached and taught for several years in Highland Park and Northbrook.

In 2011, she was named Developmental Coach of the Year by the Professional Skaters Association. Last May she, her family, Mr. Brown and Mr. Moeller relocated to Colorado Springs, Colo. They train at the Colorado Sports Center in Monument, Colo.
