The Evanston Police Department is issuing a community alert for a pattern of robberies that have occurred over the last several days. Four incidents have been reported in the area of south Evanston in which two male/black teen offenders wearing dark clothing have approached their victim’s after the victim’s vehicle had parked and the victim is walking toward their residence. In most incidents money and cell phones have been taken.
The offenders have displayed a firearm in several of robberies and in some instances knocked their victim to the ground. Police are asking the public to be aware of their surroundings and report any suspicious persons to police by calling 911.

700 block of Hinman Ave. 01/16/2014 6:25PM
The public is also encourged to use the police department’s Text-a-Tip program where anonymous tips can be submitted to help solve crime from any cell phone with texting capability. Tips should be sent to CRIMES (274637) and type EPD TIP in the message line along with the information.
