The City of Evanston invites residents to participate in the 5th Annual Evanston Day in Springfield on Wednesday, February 26, 2014. The event allows local residents and organizations to reach out to state elected officials in conjunction with city leaders to discuss a variety of issues important to Evanston. The State of Illinois plays a vital role in making decisions that affect the lives of every Illinoisan. Evanston Day gives residents the opportunity to speak directly with key policy makers and leaders in the Land of Lincoln.

Last year, 60 participants traveled to Springfield for the event. The group was headed by Mayor Elizabeth Tisdahl, members of the City Council, and Northwestern University President Morton Schapiro. Other participants included elected officials; business, civic, education and religious leaders; members of the local media; and Evanston residents.

To register for Evanston Day in Springfield online click here, or call 3-1-1. The cost is $60 per person, and includes lunch, dinner and transportation. Participants will depart for Springfield by bus from Ryan Field, 1501 Central St., at 7 a.m., and return at approximately 9 p.m. that evening.
