City
All City of Evanston facilities (including libraries and recreation centers) will be open on Monday, Jan. 27th, and can be used as warming shelters during regular hours. Anyone who needs transportation to a warming center or wishes updates on hours and availability should call 311.
The daycare at the Robert Crown Community Center and preschool at the Chandler-Newberger Center will both be closed on Jan.27. Tennis classes at ETHS have also been cancelled.
The City Council meeting, however, will convene as scheduled on Jan. 27.
Schools
Evanston Township High School and all District 65 schools and centers. will be closed on Jan. 27 because of the severe weather. All scheduled meetings and activities at ETHS for Jan. 27 are cancelled.
In a post on its website, District 65.net, District officials said, “The decision was made with the safety of students and staff in mind. Please expect further communication on Monday in reference to the opening or closing of school on Tuesday.” District 65 also posted the message in Spanish: Enero 27 – Escuelas y centros de actividades del Distrito 65, cerrados. Las escuelas y centros de actividades del Distrito escolar 65 estarán cerrados el día lunes 27 de enero debido al frío extremo que se ha pronosticado. La decisión se tomó pensando en la seguridad de nuestros estudiantes y de nuestro personal. Por favor, esperen más notificaciones el lunes con respecto al cierre o apertura de escuelas para el día martes. |
