5.5” of snow fell last night in Evanston. Lake effect has added to the total and coupled with the winds white out conditions were experienced. Light to occasionally moderate snow is expected to continue until at least 10:00am.
Public Works had a large crew out last night and all of the main roads and secondary main road have been plowed. Some of the residential road have been plowed as well but the main focus was to keep the main and secondary roads open last night.
Today Public Works will be putting out a large team to continue plowing all roads with a big focus on residential streets so residents can have accessibility to the neighborhoods.
Update as of 9 a.m. on Feb. 5: A snow route parking ban will be in effect for tonight, Feb. 5, and tomorrow, Feb. 6. In addition, a snow emergency will be in effect for tomorrow, Feb. 6, and Friday, Feb. 7.
