Hand Suds Wash, located at 2212 Green Bay Road, will be closed temporarily while the building’s north wall is being repaired.

Today at approximately 1:54 p.m., Evanston Fire companies were dispatched to the location following a call reporting a wall collapse. Arriving companies found that the northern wall of the structure (approximately 125’ in length) was separating from the roof and a portion of it had collapsed. The business was immediately evacuated along with the car sales dealership on its northern border.

City Building Division personnel and a structural engineer along with fire officials evaluated the damage to the structure, while ComEd and Nicor personnel evaluated the utilities to ensure the continuance of service.

A portion of the southbound lane of Green Bay Road at Noyes Street will be closed to traffic. Motorists are asked to use caution while driving in the area.
