Evanston police detectives over the weekend charged a 17-year old Evanston male with armed robbery in an incident that occurred on Feb. 14 at approximately 8:50 p.m. near the intersection of Mulford Street and Sherman Avenue, said Commander Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. 

The robbery occurred when a husband and wife were walking back to their Rogers Park residence from St. Francis Hospital. A backpack was taken during the incident and has not been recovered by police. The young man was identified in a physical line-up by both victim and a charge of armed robbery was approved by the felony review unit of the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, said the Commander.

The young man is being charged as an adult as required by state statute for this type of offense, said the Commander. Bond was set today at $350,000, the Commander added.
