James Maiworm, assistant director of Public Works for operations and maintenance has provided the following information about March 1 snow operations:

“Light snow has begun falling from snow system number 2. Intermittent light snow will fall until the intensity increases around 6 or 7 p.m., at which time it will snow steadily until about 12 a.m. Some flurries and snow showers will continue until about 5am. Last night Evanston picked up ½ inch of snow.

 “Total snow accumulations should be around 3 inches overnight.

 “Public Works has a crew on the street currently and will be transitioning at 7 p.m. to an overnight crew. Additional Public Works staff is expected to work tomorrow to finish clearing secondaries and residential streets.

“More updates to follow as necessary.”
