James Maiworm, assistant director of Public Works, provided the following snow update for March 2:

“Snow cleanup will continue all day today. Light snow stopped falling at 5am this morning and temperatures are holding at 8 degrees. Overnight Evanston received on average 3.8 inches of snow.

“Some peaks of sun are possible today but the temperatures will remain very cold.

“Last night, Public Works plowed and salted all the main and secondary’s streets and began plowing residential streets.

“Today, Public Works crews will plow residential streets as a primary focus but will also be retreating main and secondary streets as the day progresses

“Road conditions through the Chicago area will be slippery today, as cold temperatures will inhibit cleanup operations. Drive carefully, slow down and allow extra time to reach your destinations.

“More updates to follow as needed.”
