April 2, volunteers of all ages and abilities are encouraged to celebrate District 65’s early dismissal with the “Give Back Evanston” volunteer event at Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center, 1655 Foster St., from 1 to 4 p.m.
Parents are encouraged to bring their children to participate in a meaningful afternoon of service projects benefiting Evanston-based organizations.
Donations of toothbrushes, toilet paper and full-size tubes of toothpaste will also be accepted to benefit those served by the YWCA Evanston/North Shore and Connections for the Homeless. Items should be delivered directly to Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center at the time of the event.
“Give Back Evanston” was created to provide an opportunity for volunteers young and old to participate in a fun-filled afternoon. The goal is to have at least 200 volunteers and to prove how much volunteerism means in Evanston. Participants may register online at www.volunteerevanston.org, but walk-ins are welcome.
