The City of Evanston received the first Utility Water Saver Award, presented by the Illinois Section American Water Works Association’s (ISAWWA) Water Efficiency Committee. The City’s Utility Department was honored at the Illinois Water Environment Association (IWEA) and ISAWWA’s joint conference and expo, WATERCON 2014, on March 18 in Springfield.

The Water Efficiency Committee created this award to honor an active ISAWWA member making significant contributions to water efficiency with notable achievements in renewable water policies and practices, environmental stewardship, employee education, conservation and community outreach programs.

The ISAWWA is a branch of the American Water Works Association (AWWA), the largest non-profit, scientific and education association dedicated to managing water resources, with more than 50,000 members worldwide. The Illinois branch is the largest water-related organization in the state, providing education and advocacy for water utility employees, consulting engineers, equipment manufacturers and regulatory employees.
