A panel discussion “Urban Acrobatics: Investigating Shared Histories and Aesthetics of Contemporary Circus and Graffiti,” organized by Caitlin Bruce and Polly Solomon, will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Evanston Art Center, 2603 Sheridan Road.
With this project, Ms. Bruce and Ms. Solomon seek to highlight graffiti artists and circus artists through discussions, workshop, and performance in order to investigate the ways in which both genres utilize publicity, spectacle and movement.
Chicago local graffiti historian and artist Gabriel FLASH Carrasquillo, Circus scholar Roy Gomez Cruz, and the project organizers will lead a public discussion about the above themes as they play out in the Windy City. All events are free and open to the public. Updates at http://circusgraffitispectacular.com/.
