On March 31, the District 65 School Board appointed Dr. Paul Goren as the next superintendent of School District 65.
Dr. Goren holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University School of Education. His background and credentials are impressive and include positions as deputy superintendent of the Minneapolis Public Schools and Interim Chief, Chicago Public Schools Office of Strategy, Research and Accountability.
Most recently he has been coordinating a national effort in eight urban school districts to embed social and emotional learning into instruction.
Importantly, Dr. Goren says he is committed to eliminating the achievement gap, and that he will also work to serve students at the highest levels. He says he wants to build a culture of support, engagement and transparency with principals and teachers, and that he wants students to be engaged and interested in learning.
Dr. Goren has lived in Evanston for 16 years. His children attended Oakton Elementary School and currently attend Chute Middle School and Evanston Township High School. He has been an active member on the boards of the Youth Organization Umbrella and Foundation 65.
Welcome home, Dr. Goren.
