The City of Evanston’s Fleet Services Division has been named one of top public fleets in North America.
The City’s fleet is one of only seven in Illinois to be recognized in “The 100 Best Fleets in North America” competition, as published in Governing Magazine, receiving honorable mention. (See a complete list of “The Top 100 Fleets in North America” and Honorable Mentions.)
The City’s diverse fleet consists of 360 motorized units, including police vehicles, fire apparatuses, public works and forestry trucks and equipment, utility vehicles and more.
Highlighted in the City’s contest application were its advanced fleet management information system; responsible waste stream, including its recycling of oil, anti-freeze and other fluids; and its use of alternative fuels, such as biodiesel.
The Fleet Services Division will be recognized at the City’s Administration and Public Works Committee meeting on Monday, April 28, 6 p.m., in the Council Chambers of the Morton Civic Center, 2100 Ridge Ave.
