The City’s Streets and Sanitation Division offers residents the free removal of up to six cubic yards of bulk garbage this spring on a designated Friday based on their normally scheduled trash day. The limit is roughly equivalent to two couches, four chairs, one mattress and box spring, or 25 medium garbage bags.
Bulk pickups are as follows: Tuesday pickups were April 18, Wednesday pickups on April 25, Thursday pickups on May 2, and Friday pickups on May 9.
Trash must be out by 7 a.m. Loose garbage, hazardous materials, electronics, tires and appliances will not be picked up. Crews will only remove bulk items; no garbage carts will be emptied. Residents with larger debris removal needs can call 311 or 847-448-4311 to request a special pickup. This alternative involves a charge.
More information on bulk-trash pickup, recycling and other disposal information can be found at cityofevanston.org/bulktrash.
