On May 3, Evanston police detectives charged three young men, ages 18, 18 and 19, with several car burglaries that occurred overnight in northwest Evanston on May 1 and May 2, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. The young men, all from Evanston, allegedly took numerous items ranging from electronics to golf clubs from various vehicles parked on the street, he said.
Patrol officers on the midnight watch apprehended two individuals initially and a third subject was later taken into custody, the Commander said.
A surveillance photo captured one incident from a private residence that had a video camera facing the street, said the Commander. This assisted police in solving the string of car burglaries. Police recovered numerous items related to these car burglaries that have not been identified by an owner as of today’s date, the Commander added.
