The City of Evanston announces closures and refuse collection schedules for the Memorial Day holiday weekend, Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26.
The Lorraine H. Morton Civic Center will be closed May 24-26. All branches of the Evanston Public Library and the 311 Call Center will be closed on May 25 and 26.
Community Centers
Chandler-Newberger Center will be closed May 24-26;
Ecology Center will be closed May 24-26 (other than rentals);
Fleetwood-Jourdain Community Center will be closed May 25 and 26;
Levy Senior Center will be closed May 26;
Noyes Cultural Arts Center will be closed May 26;
Robert Crown Center will be closed May 26.
Refuse Collection
No collections will occur on Monday, May 26. All collections that week will occur one day later than normal. Thursday collections and Friday condo collections will both occur on Friday.
Beaches
All Evanston beaches will be open for the season beginning May 24, including Memorial Day, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Parking
Parking meters and downtown parking garages will be free on Memorial Day. In addition, other restricted areas that have signs that prohibit parking except on holidays will be honored. Parking Enforcement, meter repair and the revenue office staff will not be working and their offices will be closed.
