The Evanston Varsity Baseball team used a 3 run rally in the 5th inning to break open a tight 3-2 baseball game and went on to beat Lincoln Park 6-2 in a regional semifinal game at Notre Dame. In that inning, Eli Otting had an RBI triple, Martin Fenn had a sacrifice fly and Joe Franke had an RBI single for the Kits. Otting’s triple scored leadoff hitter Charlie Maxwell who was 2 for 2 on the day and reached base in all 3 of his plate appearances.
The Kits build a 3-0 lead through 3 innings but Lincoln Park countered with 2 in the 4th to make the game 3-2. On the mound Dylan Mulvihill started and pitched 3 solid innings. James Allen was dominant in relief pitching the final 4 innings giving up 3 hits, 1 run and striking out 4.
The win was Evanston’s 20th on the season and sets up a Regional Championship against host Notre Dame on Saturday at 2pm
