Brenda Harris, now serving her third term as president of the Foster Senior Club, was honored last month as Foster Club Senior of the Year. She worked for Kraft Foods, Inc., as a benefits analyst until she retired for medical reasons.

She founded “Let’s Breathe Sarcoidosis Support Group,” the first sarcoidosis support group in Illinois. She is on the advisory board for the foundation of sarcoidosis Research.

In 1999, she received the Community Service Award from the Evanston/North Shore Branch of the NAACP in recognition of her work regarding sarcoidosis.

Ms. Harris has been a member of the Foster Senior Club since 2008 and has served as membership chairperson and as chairperson of summer picnics and of Christmas parties. In recognizing Ms. Harris, the club noted, “The old adage ‘The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree’ is true of Brenda. Brenda’s mother, Leona Harmon, was Senior of the Year in 2001.”
