President Perry Weinberg of Evanston made the announcement and said, “The Board is grateful to the individuals and businesses that have provided their generous support to help Canal Shores for the 2014 season. This is our second season under our reorganization, and we are pleased to receive the financial support that is essential to the future of this amazing gem in the Evanston and Wilmette communities. We owe the sponsors a big thank you for their confidence in our ability to rebuild and maintain the course.”

The association, an all volunteer organization, was formed in 1919 to manage the operations of the 18-hole Canal Shores Golf Course under a special lease agreement with the City of Evanston and Village of Wilmette. The course runs along the North Shore Channel on land owned by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District from Green Bay Road to the Baha’i Temple near Wilmette Harbor.

The hole sponsors for 2014 are a cross-section of individuals and businesses in the area that support the course as a public and open space, assuring golf and other outdoor activities throughout the year.
