On June 23, Evanston police officers responded to a call that people were in a park after hours at approximately 11:15 p.m. The park was a tot-lot located in 600 block of Mulford Street, said Commander Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. Upon arrival at the part, police encountered a female and male. When police conducted a pat-down of the male, they recovered a loaded .40 caliber handgun from the male’s waistband.
The male, age 29 of Chicago, was taken into custody. Police determined that he was on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections for weapons offenses. He was charged with Unlawful Use of Weapon by Felon and certain other offenses, said Commander Parrott.
