On Tuesday, June 24, at approximately 4:35 p.m., Evanston police responded to a call that a person was seen with a gun in a vehicle near the intersection of Church Street and Dodge Avenue, said Commander Jay Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. A description of the vehicle was broadcast to responding units. Police subsequently located the described vehicle. After curbing the vehicle in the 400 block of Ridge Avenue, police arrested the male passenger, 20 from Chicago, after recovering a loaded .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun, said the Commander.

It was determined that the male was on parole for robbery & aggravated robbery from the Illinois Department of Corrections, said the Commander. He was charged with Armed Habitual Criminal, a Class X Felony, and certain other offenses, said the Commander.
