On Monday, July 7, 2014 at approximately 7:15 p.m. police officers in the area of 1700 Payne Street heard shots being fired. Upon investigating, officers located a vehicle with several occupants near the intersection of Greenbay Road and Lincoln Street, one of whom was shot several times in the legs, said Commander Parrott of the Evanston Police Department. The victim was identified as a male, age 39, of Evanston. The victim was transported to NorthShore Evanston Hospital for treatment. The injuries are non-life threatening and officers were able to locate a crime scene in the 1700 block of Payne St.
Initially, two subjects were detained for questioning related to this incident but have since been released. Detectives are investigating the shooting but the victim is not cooperative at this time, said the Commander.
