Two Evanston organizations recently received grants from the Illinois Humanities Council.
Percolator Films received $5,000 to support “Count Me In,” a documentary chronicling the participatory budgeting process in Chicago, where citizens determined how their local government should spend funds earmarked for infrastructure upkeep. The project is to be completed in early 2015.
Next Theatre received $5,000 to support a “theatrical response” to the Illinois Holocaust Museums’s exhibition “RACE: Are We So Different?” The piece will feature monologues by senior citizens and high school students, drawing on their personal experiences with race. The play will be performed beginning in October 2014.
