On July 17, at approximately 6:20 p.m., an Evanston police officer conducted a traffic stop in the 2400 block of Church Street. While the officer was interacting with the driver, the officer established probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle. During that search the officer recovered a loaded .45 caliber semi-automatic handgun along with a face mask, body armor and a small amount of cannabis.

The driver, a 26-year old Chicago man, was taken into custody and charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and other charges.
