The Evanston Public Library will hold its big Summer Sale from Aug. 15-17 in the Book Sale Room on the third floor of the Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave.

The three-day event, called “the best used book sale” by the Chicago Reader, will offer quality books to satisfy a wide variety of interests  at low prices ranging from  $2 dollars for less recent hardcovers and trade paperbacks to $4 for newer hardcover books.

Fiction-lovers, mystery fans and readers of biographies will find their bliss, as will lovers of cooking, history, social science, photography, philosophy, first editions and children’s literature.

A customer at the last sale said, “Almost every book I’ve chosen, I’ve been thinking of ordering from Amazon.”

Library Director Karen Danczak Lyons said, “The Evanston community regularly donates thousands of great books that we sell to support library services throughout our community. Our third-floor book sale room is transformed into a bookstore of the highest quality. I encourage everyone to come see it for yourself; I’m sure you’ll leave with wonderful treasures to share and enjoy.”
