Dance Center Evanston student Isabelle Glavin was selected to represent the Cecchetti Council of America at the Cecchetti International Classical Ballet Competition held earlier this month at the Richmond Ballet in Richmond, Virginia.  She was awarded a full scholarship to the summer program at Canada’s National Ballet School in Ontario. Bea Rashid, director of Dance Center Evanston, coached Isabelle for the competition.

Dancers, teachers, and coaches from all over the world attended the competition. Dancers from the U.S., South Africa, Australia, Canada, and the United Kingdom each performed a classical variation and a piece with contemporary choreography. Ms. Glavin presented a variation from “Paquita” and a contemporary solo to “And I Love Him,” choreographed by Eddy Ocampo and sung by Lisa Lauren.
