State Representative Robyn Gabel will sponsor a screening of “Food Patriots” by local filmmakers Jennifer and Jeff Spitz at 7 p.m. on Sept. 15 at the Main Library, 1703 Orrington Ave.

Motivated by their son’s horrible experience of getting sick after eating contaminated food, the filmmakers take the viewer on their journey to learn about new food sources.

Throughout the film they meet people who are trying to change the way America eats and buys food. They say it is their hope that it will inspire consumers to demand better food and pressure both policy makers and supply sources for healthier products.

Like the filmmakers, Rep. Gabel says she believes, “This film will begin the conversation about making better food choices and will encourage consumers to inform their policymakers that they want better options.”
