Evanston community members are invited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a free event featuring live music, art, food, dancing and more.
Presented by the City of Evanston and Latino Resources, the 2014 Hispanic Heritage Month Kick-off Celebration will take place from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 20 at the Robert Crown Center, 1701 Main St. The event is free and open to all ages.
Live performances will be given by Salcedo Group, Mariachi Northwestern, Tierra y Luz de Mexico, Los Angeles Hablan and Mariachi Arnulfo Cardenas. The event will also include a presentation of 2014 Latino Resources Scholarship Awards to local students.
National Hispanic Heritage Month is observed each year from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15. This year’s national theme is “Hispanics: A Legacy of History, a Present of Action and a Future of Success.”
