Oakton Elementary School celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. A community birthday celebration is planned for 2-4 p.m. on Sept. 13 in the school auditorium. All former students, teachers and staff and community members are invited to attend in order to remember the past and celebrate the present and future of Oakton School.
Oakton’s new Centennial Mosaic installation, created by students to commemorate the 100th birthday, will be officially unveiled, and there will be tours of the historic school building, designed by influential architect Dwight H. Perkins. The day will also feature a photo scavenger hunt, timeline display, birthday cake and visits with former teachers, principals and classmates.
