District 65 Superintendent Paul Goren meeting with a commuter at the Main Street station.

“Every Child, Every Day, Whatever it Takes” is the new mantra in District 65 and is included in the draft mission statement. Paul Goren, District 65 Superintendent, and John Price, Assistant Superintendent, greeted commuters last week at the Metra and ‘L’ train stations, located at Chicago and Main Street, encouraging them to get involved in the District’s strategic planning process. They also met with parents and teachers on the grounds at Walker school to encourage them to participate in the strategic planning process, including joining one of the five working committees: high quality teaching and learning; thriving workforce; safe and supportive school climate; family and community engagement; and financial sustainability.

Last week, District 65 principals also joined the effort to get parents involved by passing out flyers and sharing more information at student drop-off and pick-up times.

Community members may review the draft mission statement at www.district65.net and send feedback to input@district65.net. To nominate yourself or someone else for either a working committee or the external advisory committee, visit www.district65.net. Applications must be submitted by Sept. 26 at 5 p.m.
