Community members are encouraged to attend the “Expressions from the Heart” opening reception to celebrate artists with disabilities, from 6 to 9 p.m. on Oct. 10 at Noyes Cultural Arts Center, 927 Noyes St.

The exhibition features more than 100 works of art that celebrate and recognize the creativity of people with emotional, psychological and developmental disabilities.

The extraordinary skill and imagination demonstrated in their art is at once startling and inspirational. The selected works come from Project Onward, Little City, The Arts of Life and Equestrian Connection Art Therapy.

During the event, wine and dessert will be served. Admission to the reception and exhibition is free and open to the public. All artwork will be for sale.

“Expressions from the Heart” will be on display at the Noyes Cultural Arts Center through Nov. 5. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. This exhibition was conceived and curated by Harvey Pranian.

The exhibit is sponsored in part by the City of Evanston, Whole Foods Market Evanston, and Young Evanston Artists (YEA!).
