In celebration of National Senior Center Month, the Levy Senior Center has unveiled a new video showcasing Evanston’s state-of-the-art facility along with its programs, activities and patrons.

The video can be viewed on the City’s YouTube channel.

The Levy Senior Center, located at 300 Dodge Ave., is a nationally accredited senior center offering programs, workshops and a wide variety of activities for seniors and community members of all ages, including basketball, yoga, language and computer courses, health classes, art making and more. The center boasts a fitness room, computer lab, gymnasium, game room and a courtyard garden, and is accessible to all community members.

“Whether you’re here to learn, exercise or socialize, there’s something for everyone at the Levy Center,” said Recreation Manager Karen Hawk. The Levy Senior Center earned National Senior Center Accreditation in 2010. There are approximately 11,000 senior centers nationwide, of which about 200 are accredited; four others are in Illinois.

The National Institute of Senior Centers celebrates National Senior Center Month each September. This year’s theme is “Senior Centers: Experts at Living Well.”
