A memorial service for Skokie 17-year-old Maxwell Gadau will be held Sunday at Evanston’s First Presbyterian Church at 1427 Chicago Avenue in Evanston at 3:00 p.m.
Max, a senior at Niles North High School and competitive swimmer, was shot and killed last Sunday just after 9 p.m. while sitting in a car in the 9200 block of Kevale Ave. in Skokie near his home. The 17-year-old girl he was with is hospitalized in critical condition at Evanston Hospital. No arrests have been made, though police say the shooting was not random.
Max is survived by his parents Patricia and Peter, who are Evanston natives and met while students at ETHS in the late 1970s, and his sisters, Melissa and Brittany, according to a family friend who wanted to spread the word of the memorial service.
